College pals Rip and Marco found a common bond in their entrepreneurial spirit and their taste for the sweeter things in life. And in their frequent travels to Europe, they grew fond of the Stroopwafel, a delicious snack comprised of two thin cracker-like waffles with a syrup filling. “They’d love this in America,” they thought, and started a company - winning a college entrepreneur contest, giving brith to what we know today as Rip Van.
Their unwavering attention to every detail turned them into snacking innovators, and their Rip Van wafels became a better for you snacking hit. But the brand was in need a refresh to get them to the next plateau - being more competitive at the retail level became a priority.

The path forward was grounded in a key insight: The snack world was stuck between tasty junk and edible cardboard. Changing the snacking world for the better - and finding that “sweet spot” between healthy and delicious, imagination and innovation, was a must.
The brand needed to find a more youthful spirit, and become more whimsical and approachable.

It was essential that the new Rip Van logo conveyed the texture and personality of the product, melding a whimsical tone that was both trustworthy and familiar.
Visualizing Rip Van’s delicious better for you sweetness and irresistibly gooey filling was key in creating 3D assets - and the work oozes emotion. It was our biggest 3D buildout ever, rendering 37 products over 9 product lines.
Our work ultimately set the tone for the future of Rip Van, delivering a flexible design system that captured a renewed brand identity, and cementing their mission and purpose: to further innovate and deliver on helping consumers find their snacking sweet spot.
